cluster dimmer doesent work

So, this weekend, Im installing my new stereo, and im taking apart the dash....didnt cut any wires....and I didnt finish the install of the speakers...so the bottom panel is not on. I go to turn the small little knob to turn up the brightness on the cluster, and it doesent work! It didnt work even before i installed the new HU (looks real nice though, but install was long because the previous owners cut the harness!....Had to solder wires back, and took real long)

Anybody have an idea as to why my dimmer switch doesent work?...I didnt cut any wires, just the radio ones.

I'll check the fuses.....but the funny thing is, that it stopped working after i took out the old radio....but i am sure I did not cut any wires on the harness.

Well, the stock harness connector was cut, but was still attached to the main harness by one lonely green wire....the connector had some of the wires still coming out of it, so i re connected the wires that were cut, and soldered them to the wires sticking out of the connector, paying attention to the colors of the wires, and popped the HU in, everything worked great!
