castrol magnatec......i run it in my 20v and dad uses it in his 2002 1.8 7afe...i.ve done about 20,000 k's mainly at high rpm..and dads done 120,000 in his from new..

You will find the toyota oil is a brand name eg mobile, shell, castrol, etc with a difference lable..we'll acually it is..just find out which one...and you'll save heaps.....i still recomend magniteck.....other than that i used to use mobile 1..but its getting a bit dear..!

Use Castrol, not sure what grade you guys use in Puerto Rico, but up here Toyotas use 5w30 and 10w30.

I just throw in whatever brand name oil into my corolla. I change oil pretty religiously on it, so I doubt I'm suffering from any significant excessive wear.

I only use Mobil One Synthetic on my GTI tho :P

I tried mobile one but my car is funny... at the end of an oil change if I use synthetic it will burn it all at the very end of 5000k and then I have no oil. If I run normal motor oil it's a little thicker and doesn't burn all of it by the end of the life of that oil change

My 20v when first cranked up had a no name brand oil in it...fresh that is..and yes it ran fine..and i do belive that cheap oil if changed reg is fine at lower rpm or for ohc cam vechiles with out two million valves per cylender...lol you know..when i changed to a better brand of oil and beter viscosity rating it ran smooterher every were...so as it was noticable i'd say thats a huge difference..
as far as brand names go well i'd say ther all simular.in performance..not the same but simular..as long as it got the right temp rating for your area eg 5-20-40-60w etc
It gets complicated but one is the viscosity at cold and the other when at running engine temp..Try to stick with what the manufactorer specs for your country..
at the end of the day if your local stockest has it and it states for multi valve use ..and is a good brand..eg mobile,caltex,shell,penrite,...it'll work fine..some are blends of "real oil" and others are full snthetic......
full synthectic is the best if your a service slacker or can pay for it ...but at the end of the day it comes down to changing it regularly to remove any built up deposits ...
the most important thing is change the oil filter at least every 2nd oil change.....eg i change the oil at 5000k's (im parranode lol) and the filter at 10,000 k's and so on...
STill aceptable is just do 10,000 on full synthectic and change the filter with the oil..
This can be drawn out by a large amount of k's but its up to u...if syntecic says 20,000 k's well at least do the filter at 10 ...you know

well you know there are only a few companies that make filters and oil. They just stamp other names onto the bottles and filters
