My 20v when first cranked up had a no name brand oil in it...fresh that is..and yes it ran fine..and i do belive that cheap oil if changed reg is fine at lower rpm or for ohc cam vechiles with out two million valves per cylender...lol you know..when i changed to a better brand of oil and beter viscosity rating it ran smooterher every were...so as it was noticable i'd say thats a huge difference..
as far as brand names go well i'd say ther all simular.in performance..not the same but simular..as long as it got the right temp rating for your area eg 5-20-40-60w etc
It gets complicated but one is the viscosity at cold and the other when at running engine temp..Try to stick with what the manufactorer specs for your country..
at the end of the day if your local stockest has it and it states for multi valve use ..and is a good brand..eg mobile,caltex,shell,penrite,...it'll work fine..some are blends of "real oil" and others are full snthetic......
full synthectic is the best if your a service slacker or can pay for it ...but at the end of the day it comes down to changing it regularly to remove any built up deposits ...
the most important thing is change the oil filter at least every 2nd oil change.....eg i change the oil at 5000k's (im parranode lol) and the filter at 10,000 k's and so on...
STill aceptable is just do 10,000 on full synthectic and change the filter with the oil..
This can be drawn out by a large amount of k's but its up to u...if syntecic says 20,000 k's well at least do the filter at 10 ...you know
