USA 93 1.6L bad water pump - t-belt cover removal

greetings-

i just got a 93 Corolla and the water pump is leaking pretty bad. started to pull everything but how do you get to the one t-belt cover bolt that's hiding behind the AC idler?

anything else to look out for?

I think your car is the same as a 96 prizm. The service manual for the '96 prizm includes the following steps in removing the timing belt:

13. Loosen the idler pulley mounting bolt
14. Loosen the idler pulley adjusting bolt and remove the A/C compressor drive belt.
15. (remove) A/C electrical connector
16. (remove) Four bolts and and A/C compressor, relocate compressor and suspend
The "idler pulley mounting bolt" is the bolt through the pulley and the "idler pulley adjusting bolt" is the one through the top of the bracket whose head faces the hood.

thanks for the info.

i ended up pulling the alt up out of the way and it gave me enough room to get to that cover bolt. alt came out quick & easy, i didn't have to fuss w/compressor at all.
