our ae92's have crank sensors?
I thought those were for electronic ignitions, so the ecu knows when to fire what using the coil pack...
I would say check the starter wire but if your gettin somethin then I doubt that would be it. all I can say it check the fuel pressure, if it's an 89 and it's an sr5 or sedean maybe the carb has bit the dust?
It runs for like a second or two and then stop it putts like its about to start like if the timing was wrong but its not I checked the timing on the cams and at the distributor. Or like if it doesnt have enoungh spark or fuel but it has both I replaced the Fuel pump,o rings on the injectors, it has plenty of pressure now I replaced the ignitor,Ignition coil, wires, plugs. This is driving me crazy but its kinda fun cuz I have no idea what it is and when I find out thats going to be really cool! Thanks for your help guys!
just because you replaced the pump doesn't mean all the lines are good, or that the injectors aren't finished.
the engine need 3 things to run. Fuel, air, spark. usually it's one of those 3 that cause your issues. Have you actually checked for a spark or just replaced parts?
Yeah I checked for spark I put a screwdriver in the wires put it against the block and I seen the spark I did the same thing with the spark plugs against metal. I did a fuel pressure check and it went up alot after I replaced the fuel pump. Thanks again for your help. Any more Ideas??? I just really wanna fix this car.

wah is this safe to do?
Ceck plugs, wires, air filter, is the battery good, battery cables clean, fuel filter
No its not really safe to do but its one of the many test us back yard mechanics do. Yeah fuel filter is new air filter is new. I have spark everything. I am looking for some kind of sensor maybe. Maybe it is my ecu that is making it not run but if it was my ECU I dont even think it would try to start. Thanks again guys
Is the timing belt on tight? Could it have slipped a tooth?
You said you replaced many things. How far did you go in taking the engine apart? Did you do a compression test?
Yeah I have compression on all cylinders #1 was kinda low so I put some oil in it and it and it went up therefore its the rings but I dont think that would keep it from firing up. It didnt slip a tooth either I checked the timing on the cams and at the distributor. any other thoughts? Hey does anyone know where I can get aftermaket fuel Injectors I am going to replace those and see if that does it.
well here's my starting problem too then. i have a 1991 Corolla GTS, with the red-top 4age, and i was running the car the other day, and i jumped in and revved it up (stupid but it was at like 6000) and it just died, and never started again, the car turns over but wont even kick, the fuel pump wire had no power goin to it, so i re-ran the fuel pump wire, but now it wont even kick, and i know there is fuel, and air, and spark was good, any idea what could have blown to make the car shut down?
the cams are all working so i never fucked the internals, it's just something electrical (i think) any ideas? give me ever idea and i can just try them all out and see what i get.
would that box after the air filter stop the engine from running? i heard if the door wasn't open the engine wont start... but how does it even open? doesn't it open with pressure?
