C56 vs C160 Mounts/Length

Ok, so I am trying to find out if the C160 6-speed and the C56 5-Speed use the same tranny mounts...
I'm pretty sure that they are the same mounting points on the car itself (duh, since you can swap either in) but do they have the same mounting points on the tranny case?

Also, does anyone know the length difference between the C-56 and C-160?

Any help would be great!

As far as I know the mounts are the same.. its the shift linkage that differs.

typically i think the box will be about 2-3 inches longer...

Are you trying to put a 2ZZ gearbox on a A series engine? because the C56 is a 4age 20v tranny and if i remember correctly the C160 is the 2ZZ gearbox?

the bell housing will not fit...........i have held a A series block plate to a 2ZZ gear box (c160??) and theres no way!

If the 6 speed is out of a levin or simular it will fit and the sharfts sould be the same..as long as you have a 4age box already...as far as mounts go they should also be the same!
if not just give a local import export company and they will give you the right ones but its not a matter of will it fit but yes it will with the right mounts....as large manufacterors hate to make new stuff i think you'll be right if its the same body type!
what is your shell and running gear spec eg ae95,101,111, etc, and motor 4age or 4afe, etc
what box you got now?.....

The c160 is out of the ae111 with blacktop they had 6 speed as an option lsd was optional, on the 2zz the 6 speed is the c60 which has the same gear ratios but has some difference maybe its just the bell housing? Who knows?

Sorry for the long wait for reply, been away from the net...

I am looking at swapping a c-56 on to the 1NZFE in an Echo. I know (from Wraith on this forum and echodrivers) that the C160 mounts up to the stock locations (it does require a bell housing swap) but is slightly too long and requires a frame cut. I am looking into swapping the C56 so I can get A) a more 'performance oriented' final drive and B) have an 8-bolt final drive that can accept an LSD. (echo stock is a 6-bolt).

I was asking on the corolla forums cause I figured you guys would know!

Thank you to everyone!

If Wraith said you have to cut the frame.. I'd believe him, he was trying to do this swap for a while I think.

The gearbox mount on the c160 is slightly different. The c5* one will work just needs a few holes slotted out. Apart from that everything is the same, driveshafts etc. are interchangable.

hmmm...
Yeah I have seen pics of wraith's cuts in the frame for the c160. I am hoping that the C56 will be shorter than the C160 so it will hopefully clear the frame.

Well thats good news about the mounts! I hope that this will work! I will do a write-up when it happens (I have to wait until my car can be down in September., just doing some preliminary homework)

Thank you everyone!
