97 Wheel Well Cover Removal

How do you completely remove the wheel well cover? And will that give me access to the wires/cables that go through the ~2'' hole in the hood (on the driver's side, although there is an identical one on the passenger side as well). Obviously, the mudguard screws and some of the well cover screws must be removed, but there are round tabs of some sort that look like they should be pried out, but i can't. There are 2 of them: one closer to the outside and the other further in on top. I'll put a pic up soon.

I think you should put up a picture of the wires that go through the 2" hole in the hood too. I hope this is the underside of the hood. But why would this have anything to do with the wheel well?

Thanks. I'll post the pics tomorrow. The wires go from the hole into the wheel well and then into the body. I read in in the a part of this audio forum http://toyotanation.com/forum/t77570.html that this was the preferred grommet. I stuck a small wire into the whole and as I kept on pushing, the wire came out the wheel well, so I know that's how it goes through...

are you sticking wires thru the grommet where the wires from the door go thru?? those wires usually come out on the inside and under the dash and lead to the fuse panel OR radio (if there are speakers on your doors).

Usually to remove a wheelwell cover, you need to screw all screws then pull on the plastic clips, they should come off. If not there's an actual tool that helps you remove plastic trim clips/screws, I forget what its called but my brother had one when he took shop class and worked at a body shop.

Alright, thanks for all the help so far. As a new member of this forum, I really appreciate your kindness and willingness to help out a (inexperienced) stranger.

I was testing out this hole (as seen in pic #2) by sticking wires into the hole under the hood. (I know the hole/grommet you are referring to...I think that's the boot into the door. That's not the one i'm playing with. I wanna get a 8 gauge power cable in through the firewall using an existing grommet to install an amp.)

Here's some pics:

#1 Location of 2'' hole (green arrow)

#2 Closer pic of location-looking down on hood (green arrow)

#3 Pic of this "tab" that I can't seem to pry off--i felt the inside, and the inside is wedge-shaped, so it seems that i would have to break it to remove it...

#4 Here's another tab up on top...

Thanks again!!!
