USA 92 corolla locks

My dad's 92 corolla's key is stuck in the ignition one click before off I don't know if that car has a steering lock or not what is the best plan for figuring this out shifter (autimatic) clyinder or something in the steering. any ideas let me know

If the car is automatic it also has a transmission lock, make sure the trasnmission lock is not the one that's failing.

idea

i also have a 92 corolla automatic, try the shift lock release (small rectangle button infront of the shitfter, its easy to see) by the shifter, just push it down and you should be able to get it free.
