AE92 Air Horn

I'm seriously considering a few air horns to put on my 92' corolla, mostly just for kicks, when i popped the hood, i only saw one wire going to the horn, but all the ones on the market have 2 wires, the obvious positive and negative. does anyone know if the wire going to the horn is positive and the bolt mounting it grounds it?

i would really like to hook it up as a primary horn with the least amount of electrical work.
i was thinking the bad boy horn by wolo, its a dual horn thats really compact and its still loud.
id go bigger but the train horns dont fit easy in a corolla.

thanks guys.

Couldn't you just find a suitable ground nearby for the black wire? Should be something metal to grab onto near it.

I'm thinking about the horn replacement too. I hate to have to us the "road runner" meep meep horn. Wish I had the horn out of my 78 Olds.

i believe our horns are grounded right at the wheel, if you take the cover off the wheel, it should have your ground right their (which is how your horn works ! when u press it, your grounding it ; ) maby try hooking up the + and give your horn a toot an see if it works lol i dunno i ripped my horn out, so im not much help really haha

Let me know if you have any luck. I really want to take the horn out of my Aunt's 84 diesel Mercedes (being sold for parts) and put it into my 94. It's the most badass horn I've ever heard. If I can't do that, Ill be taking one of the 2 horns off the the 91 Previa thats currently in our garage. The horns on those were really something.

positive and negitive

yea man, the wire going to the horn is positive and the bolt is negitive, so the horn u have figure out which is the positive lead and just ground the other wire to any clean metal part of body or frame, it should work

thanks a lot guys, gideon, i will let you know how the install goes, should be around the next week or so, give or take for shipping and holiday weeknds and all, i appreciate the feedback.

sidenote, i put an intake on like a week ago, filter a little bigger than the pipe would fit, well it fell off in the engine bay, (didnt move around, just left the intake straight open) i was getting a whopping 34mpg driving like a 20yr old up from around 23 the week before in the same conditions, lol. i thought my gas gauge broke or something. just goes to show you the potential hiding in some engines. sadly i have to put it back on or risk screwing up the whole engine.

no air horn yet, but the bolt grounds the horn like i thought, i used a "woop whoop" old police siren and tested it out, although i would love to use that as my horn, the police might see my fun in a different light. maybe i will just hook it up as a secondary.......

Heh, I had the same idea the other day. I found one of those cool OOOOOO-GGGGGGG-AAAAA horns in the basement and my idea was to throw it in and hook it up as a secondary just for shits and giggles. I just can't find a spot in the engine bay with enough room

it cant be too big, what about against the firewall???? thats a pretty decent spot, and there is some room around there. and make sure it works before you put all that effort into it, i tried mine by just touching the positive and negatives to the battery terminals so i wasnt dissapointed after all the effort.
good luck with it

Yeah, I'm still hunting for a spot to stick it. If I can't get it to fit, no big deal. My first idea was to mount it in the space between the shock tower and the wiper fluid reservoir but it's too big to fit
Good luck with your air horn!
