Corolla Seca AE102 - gas lift struts for rear hatch with spoiler - 470n or 500n?

Hi, does anybody know what the correct pressure for the rear gas lift struts is for rear hatches with spoilers? Ive been told by 2 different strut suppliers that it should be 470n and 500n - what is the correct pressure supposed to be? (There should be a correct Toyota spec but I cant think where to find it).
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks,
Chris

Ok, thanks very much for that - I really appreciate it. Hopefully the manual might have the correct spec listed.
Have you ever had to get your struts gassed or replaced? (I found 2 places that sell brand new aftermarket struts, not reconditioned but brand new, for $50 a pair. The brands are "Ezy-Lift" and "Industrial Gas", but one place reckons they should be 500n and the other place says 470n otherwise the hatch is too hard to close). I was going to buy genuine, but they're $60 each.
Regards,
Chris

Yeh.. Go for either the Ezy-Lift or Champion Gas struts...

But really - Were talking about 30 newtons - that is roughly 3kg of force. So in other words, if the hatch weighs more than 47kg - go for the 500nm strut, if not - go for the 470nm strut. All it means is that you will need 47 or 50kg to move it from its open position...

Cool, thanks for that. I dont know how much my hatch weighs really without pulling it off - it has the genuine Toyota spoiler on it though. Could you still check if your manual has the Toyota spec in it for hatches with spoilers for me?

Thanks for the tip on Ezy-Lift struts too - I wasnt sure which brand to go with.

Genuine gas strut pressure is 0500n!

I went to Toyota today and they had the gas struts in stock, (97 Seca hatch with spoiler - part 68960 YA 020). The pressure written on the side is 0500n.

What Brand to go with?

By the way, why'd you recommend the Ezy Lift? Are they really good? They told me the Ezy Lift are made in Korea - are these the right ones?

I found another brand called "Lift Easy" that makes brand new struts with 2 years warranty too which I may use yet, not sure...

I've had no troubles with Ezy Lift or Champion Gas. That is why i reccomended them

Champion Gas are more expensive, but they are repairable. I believe some of the cheaper ones arent..

Who sells Champion & Ezy Lift?

Thanks. Where do you get Champion Gas struts from? (And Ezy Lift for that matter). I only found Ezy Lift thru a seller on ebay. I have tried Bursons and Repco and Autobarn too, but they all only stock Monroe, (which doesnt make a strut for Secas).
