Cold start problems

My 1994 Corolla has a problem starting in the morning. But once it starts, it runs and restarts without problems. I have already replaced the idle valve, temperature sensor, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, distributor cap, and distributor rotor. Any help is appreciated.

Here are some thoughts ...

Is your timing too advanced?

Consider synthetic oil.

Ohm check the temperature sensor and make sure it is working properly. If you have a temperature gauge just have a good look at it to make sure the reading makes sense.

Plug it in.

Don't light a fire under it to warm it up :p

Exclamation Also cold Start problems Here

I also have trouble with my 1995 Corolla cold starting. Once it starts, no problems all day. No check engine light on, except for when I put key into ignition and start. Car turns over, no start. My neighborhood mechanic, not a Toyota dealership shop, thinks it is a signal not being received by the crank shaft. One local dealer suggested over the phone that it might be the cold start ignighter. Does the 95 Corolla even have one? The earliest I can get my car to a dealership shop is Monday, 10-24-05. I just want to have an understanding of what I am up against here. Any suggestions?

cold start

does it crank yet wont' start, meaning it turns over with the starter? If so, do you have a cold start injector? My 92 had one. It operates off a thermo-time switch that goes into the coolant. All I had to do was remove the cold start injector and clean it with carb cleaner and it's worked fine since!

check your CSI (which is the black injector mounted in the middle of your manifold..... it has a small metal fuel line that runs from the rail ti it.... if need be, use 2 small wires, run a positive to one prong and touch a negative to the other.... do this with the car NOT running... you should hear the CSI click... if not, it's not working properly). Also, check to make sure the GREEN coolant temp sensor is hooked up and functioning properly... it is tied into the the cold start injector (it's the cold start timer). If it isn't reading correctly, then it won't turn the CSI, and you won't have the added fuel at startup. (the cold start sequence is very similar to a choke setup on a carb)

Usually its the starter solenoid contacts in the starter that wear out. They are easy and cheap to replace.

The way you can tell if this is the problem is if you just hear a click when the car doesnt start.

If it actually cranks and doesnt start it's something else.
