Brake lights stay on

My daughters Corolla  93, the brake lights stay on. Threrfore it drains the battery. I have checked for resets and can't find any. Where do I start to look to resolve the problem?

I'd say the switch on the pedal will be worn or loose, some are adjustable. Should be an easy fix

Either that, or rotted wiring has metal touching other metal and something is shorted out. Wiring issues are usually a pain in the ass... But definitely check the switch on the brake pedal first.

This happened on my daughter's 90 corolla. Like punter said, you need to take a look at the switch. In my case, nothing was wrong with the switch itself, but there is a small plastic spacer/bushing which pushes the plunger part of the switch in whenever you let your foot off the pedal. I probably would have replaced the entire switch if I had not found the pieces of it on the floor. Instead, I used a little JB Weld and glued it back into place. Good as new!

I put a rivet in the place of that plastic thing that fell out.
