The 2 front tires have a max psi of 44 while the back 2 have a max psi of 35. Am I suppose to fill it up to around 40 psi for the front tires and 32 psi for the back tires, or are they suppose to be the same pressure for all the tires?
it would say in your door. BUt the number in your door is for the stock tire size. if the tires are a different size that number may no longer be good. But 32 seems to be the standard for tire pressure
now if you want to mess around with it alot, I would say put a couple more psi when it gets really hot. mosty for the all seasons since they can get a little soft when it gets like that
Check the door label sticker, as has been said by the previous poster.
Generally you would want to put more air in the back tires to decrease rolling resistance on the non-driven wheels.
This applies to the OEM tires only, once you purchase non-oem tires you're also changing the Pressure. Each tire for each brand has its OWN pressure, it says it on the tire itself. Just try to stay close to the pressure indicated on the tires and you should have no problems.
well not really. Most tires show a max some show a recommended pressure. It's hard for them to do that since the cars they are going on may not all be the same weight. BUt yea my x-ice tires needed about 40 in them. 32 and I couldn't turn the car!
If it's a stock tire, go with what the manual/door sticker says.
If it's not stock, go with what the installer or tire manufacturer says.
Make sure you only check/adjust pressure when the tire is cold (before driving in the morning)
like I said, most shops will put 32 in since most cars and tires take that.
if you've bothered to go preformance tire you probably won't mind the extra time to adjust the psi to what you like the car to feel.
not true. my low profiles only need around 30 - 35 depending on what I am doing with them. with 35 there is NO flex at all in them... defeats the rim gaurd on the tires. my all seasons I had on them took about 40, and my winters were around 50 and the 40 and 50 psi ones were p175/70 r13. comes down to the tire.... doesn't matter if it's a low profile. But I would think most low profiles would be ok for the lower psi because the sidewalls are ALOT harder. pain in the ass to get on the rims....
it was the max, but even with the max there was still a bulge at the buttom like there should be. I put them down to 46 ish when it got colder. but even in the cold 32 made the car nearly impossible to turn... was like driving on jello
