tsb (recall) info for all 03 rolla owners.

ok some of you have read my thread regarding my 03 corollas headlights coming on in the middle of the night as they wish and staying on all night until i wake up to a dead battery the next day.
and the inside cluster lights turning on and off at will as well.
well someone posted and told me that there was a tsb on this problem and toyota will fix it for free. i just got back from the dealer and they indeed fixed it for free(it was a bad daytime running light relay).......but only because i could prove that it was doing it in front of them. the car only does this when the tempature is below 8 degrees. as soon as you turn on the heater and warm up the inside of the car it will not do it.
anyhow i took it to the dealer when the temp was above 8 the first time (and it wouldnt do it in front of them)and they said i would have to pay full price if they couldnt find any problem even though there was a tsb issued about this very thing. they said that "we do not fix tsb's unless we can see the problem"
the tsb # for this problem is EL001-003.
just thought id pass on my experience on this problem with you all.

even if it wasn't a tsb, because it is defect that you didn't cause it shoul be investigated and/or fixed free of charge, it's part of the warranty, unless you already went over the 36k mileage limit.

So next time something goes wrong and its not from something you did, they need to check and fix it for free. even if its something you did like break the visor or armrest that is a warranty replacement.

Keep an eye on it! I had the TSB done...didn't work. Had the headlight switch/turn signal stalk replaced.....didn't work. I told them to call Tokyo because they are as baffled as I am. They've done all that 'Yota said but to no avail. When mine turned themselves on this morning it was 60 degrees fahrenheit! Back to the drawing board.

I'm sorry to say this, but anything could be solved by violence nowadays! I've had problems with different shops and companies, and if you start screaming with displeasure your wish will be their command!!

It's unfortunate, but apparently that's the way it's done!

No need to call Tokyo.. corollas are made in Canada now, and most of their electronics are either made In Canada/USA or they come from Japan. IMO Toyota needs to stick to Japan-made electronics, they seem to be having a lot of problems with american made chit.

The "call to Tokyo" was in jest, mine was made in California.
