importing corolla levin help

i am about to buy a 1999 levin bzg ss from japan and i want to know if anybody knows the importing laws for california, is it legal to import this car here as far as getting it registered or insurance for it, please post and but please also EMAIL ME perez925@sbcglobal.net

lemme get this straight you wanna import a car from japan(damn near impossible unless you got some serious cash) and to california which is probably about the most strict state

you could also import the levin from places that had to have regular headlights.... They had the levins there...

I don't think you can import a car unless its 15yrs or older.. I know that's how it works in Canada, I think it works about the same in some states.

nope.

if it's already been crash tested in the US, and you have someone who can legalize it, then you SHOULD be good to go.

however, do research laws fully before you drop coin on a car like that. keep in mind that Skylines (other than the R33) aren't allowed to be shipped over to the states anymore because of the crash test requirements.

laws differ significantly between Canada and the US. it's still expensive, regardless of the country(i believe).

in the bahamas where i am from it is as easy as cake. plus the shipping fees are quite minimal. we don't have emissions or much traffic laws due to small populus and also like a 1% car accident death a year rating. there are more skylines in the bahamas than you can shake a stick at. i wouldn't even get started on supras.......

thats what I keep wondering... do they have to do emissions here. The japanese cars don't have the same emissions laws and I think their cars are worse than ours....
