brake wire clips...

Do the front pads have to have those wire clips that attach the pads together and split them apart... they're like paper clip thickness?

The reason I'm asking is because I was purchasing some pads online and I found some but it tells me to discard the clips, I find that hard to believe... maybe one of you have better insight on this...

If it came on the car from the factory, I would prolly leave them on there...

yea but whatI think they mean is the little hole for them aren't there... You can only use them if there is a little hole plate for the brake pads..

and yes my ae92 has them.

Mine didnt, but the calipers from the carina 2 I have on my rolla have them.. dunno then, I left them out

Maybe it's for making fitment easy? as i cant see em doing much!
not all cars have them! so whats the go maybe its just one of those factory miths ?
i'd say if ya leave em off the worst that can happen would be a slight increase in brake wear

well it's not the calipers that have them on my ae92, They are on the pads.
and the reason not all cars have them is different calipers have different systems. It's to keep some tension on the pads to push them away from the rotors...

Some don't have then true, but usually thats because they are old and didn't have them back then, or because they were lost over many years.

Hell some cars like the neons came out with them after to fix that issue... Try putting those on cars they weren't designed for them ....
