Hello everybody. I have a 2005 Corolla. Today my car did something very strange. I was going down a hill that I go down everyday. The hill is very high and steep to the point that your ears pop. Well I was going down the hill at a speed of approx 70 mph and I had my foot on the brakes. All of a sudden my cars RPM shot up to 5000 rpm and slowly went back down. It was very odd. It was as if the transmision had slipped but the problem is I wasn't giving any gas at the time. My foot was on the brakes. The only thing I can think of is that It all of a sudden downshifted to a gear that was to low. Has anybody ever heard of this? I hope I'm not already having tranny problems with a car so young. It already has 34,000 miles on it. Anybody have any ideas?
