You'll need the rest of the AWD system for starters, shafts, axles, then probably the whole assembly for the rear wheels, rotors, hubs, etc... not worth even trying unless you got the money.

It would be totally useless. Simply put, after spending tons of cash your car will be slower than a base Matrix AWD with 123 hp. The AWD train will increase the weight of the car by 250 lbs atleast and adding the 4 speed auto transmission with tall gear ratios, it will fall below 5500 rpm in each gear and take many seconds just to get into lift above 6000 rpm and fall on it's face once it goes past 2nd gear. Peak HP does not mean anything unless the transmission/gear ratios allows the car to use the powerband properly. Not to mention, powertrain loss on automatics is around 20% as opposed to 12 - 15% on stick shifts. Hence no auto XRS is available. As it is, A 180 HP Celica GTS with 4 speed auto is slower than a 140 HP 5 speed Celica GT.

Easiest way, cut the body off the Matrix and weld the Corolla body on the chasis.
If you got the money to do the swap, you'll have money to change gear ratio in the tranny and beef it up.
