Thumbs up big port 4AG injector help

whats up everyone, I have an 87 big port 4AGE with intake, header, full exhaust and disabled EGR. I believe the engine was running lean so I swaped in the small port red top injectors. (tan or beige) I noticed the resistance values of the injectors were way different than stock
big port- 3 ohms
small port- 13.8 ohms

the engine seems to runfine with these injectors although I dont know if it fixed my lean problem or if the ecu can properly control these injectors. does anyone have experience with this or know how the different resistence will affect the injector operation?

Thanks a great deal

The injectors wont function properly if the Ohm rating is high and the original ones were low. plus you can burn out the ECU.

you can remove the injector box and the smallport injectors will work

however, you don't have smallport injectors..... the smallport injectors are green.... the beige injectors are ~2.5-3 ohm.... the early bigport injectors (single hole blue) are 1-1.5ohm

Are you referining to the resistor box? And I believe you may be mistaken in thinking that I do not have the smallport injectors. they are from a '91 4AG. I measured the resistance value and it read 13.8 ohms, plus it sprays two seperate streams. my stock injectors were green and black and sprayed one stream, with a resistance value of about 2.5-3 ohms.
What do you think is going on?
thank you very much for your help

You need to do the resister box by pass. As you have already found out, their have different resistance. Don't know what you're bumping it for... it won't run fine because the injectors will have a very weak signal (resistance from box and internally). The injectors won't run at the proper duty cycles and it puts extra strain on your electrical components.

Why do you think the engine was running lean to begin with?

Thank you for the information, I will have to swap back to the originals. I belive it was running lean because the computer would set a lean code. And also because I increased the engines ability to move air so I wanted to add fuel.

What would you recommend to richen the mixture.
Thanks
