The one with the plug is the air temp sensor, it will be fine just sitting in the engine bay just leave it pluged in.

Where does that hose go? and what does it do when you block the hose off?

No it wont be fine with it just sitting in the engine bay. its the IAT sensor and it MUST be plugged into the intake pipe. The hose is probably the air intake for the breather system.

Why won't it be fine??

That sensor doesn't have much effect on the ECU anyway, and since the pod will be sucking from the engine bay, a sensor in the engine bay will give an accurate reading.

Those hose is a breather..you cna get one of those dinky air breather filters to replace the tube, helps clena up the egnine bay. For the Temperature sensor Just zip tie it clsoe to the filter..I did tha ton ym Corolla and now my mazda..works fine..

It has some effect, plus airflow flowing through the intake duct can have an effect on the air temperature, why halfass the whole thing, when it takes 5min to drill a hole for it.
