Unhappy

Look I would not be asking if I had not checked the basic crapola. It gets air/kinda sparks/has fuel presure/has rust and a screwed up door.If you got free time maybe you could help me out alone it kinda sucks to have to boost the car and trying to start it.Yes the Battery is low but its been outside for a couple months ..Even with a boost it wont start it kinda does but wont pass 1000rpm before dying ..

Tomorow I will change the spark plugs and distributor and see what that gives. This car was running before it got cold so I guess something does not like humidity and cold. The spark plugs are fouled and they should be changed anyways.

Other than the basics this is all I can think of.

Take a good look at the silicon on the airflow meter see if that has been tampered with.

Ignition timing?

Valve timing?

Is there a code? might wanna check.

my bet would be that the timing is way off, which is very easy to do.

any rotation in the distributor will cause the timing to be off kilter...and that could result from something as simple as loose dizzy bolts to some schmuck who knew jack all and messed around with the dizzy.

Congrats! You bought a dud. J/J

Hmmm ... other than timing being a prob, have you tried giving it a good punch of the gas to bring up the revs? Does the car jolt even a little because maybe you have a clutch/tranny prob that it's not really disengaging so the motor dies from the clutch. I dunno if you know what I mean ... so I'll just shuddup.

if the ign timing were off, and you punched the gas, it could actually have a negative effect, and then shut down immediately.

Look when I try and crank the car over I press the gas all the way full open then it slowly starts reving to 1000rpm then I let go of the ignition key and it take 3 secs to die but never goes past 1000rpm.I will play with the ignition timing and change the plugs and see if that works ..
