Have a 90 Rolla not much body left but decent motor, Wonding if it could be modified to fit into a 89 Celica GT body. Not looking for a super long winded post for an answer, just curious if something like this could be made a reality.
Yes, probably, but it'd be expensive and you'd lose power. There's not much out there for the 4AFE short of turbo kits, and for that expense you'd be better off building up the 5SFE anyway.
It just makes no sense going with a 3SGE when you can get the 3SGTE instead. Think about it, you gotta get the custom done engine mounts, the hook up the motor to the wiring and all the hoses, etc, you'll probably have to upgrade fuel pump and maybe fuel lines, then you have to mod a 3SGE/5SFE transmission to bolt to the AE92 Chassis, then you're gonna cheap out and put a 5SFE or a 3SGE? spend the extra couple of grand and do a 3SGTE conversion, you've already got the swap basically done by then.
You have this topis the other way round, I think he wants to put an A series motor into a 5SFE powered celica.
I can kinda see what your saying, but 3sges are 180hp or 190hp (thats the latest 2) that would make a corolla really haul ass, I could buy a crashed late model 3S powered celica for about $3000-$3500NZD here which would have all the bits I needed, would work out heaps cheaper than a 3sgte swap.

You got it wrong flashmn... sort of.. we had the Celica GT, GTS and ST (not the motor code but the trim level). It did have the 4AFE and 7AFE which made it an ATXXX, but they were badged as "Celica ST" on the trunk/hatch door. That's Toyota for you.
