Wiper Motor

Do you think you can use any wiper motor or does it have to be Toyota's wiper motor. My motor blew and I have two cars (a 1990 Isuzu Stylus and a 1991 Hyundai Excel just sitting in my driveway.
Can I use the motor from either of these cars?

Hi !

I did change my motor not long ago. It's not that difficult, as long as you get the general picture of how it's physically made. I'm saying that because once you remove the bolts the little arm stays "inside" (where the whiper linkage is) and the book says to pry it out but it's kinda difficult to see what you're prying. If you consider the fact that I had never saw a whole whiper motor in my life , it took me some time to realise how to detach the damn thing from the linkage .... But overall, it's not too difficult. I found my motor at a scrapyard.

I would probably assume that the 4dr. AE92 has the exact same wiper motor as the Coupe AE92, so even if the book doesn't go in detail about the Coupe models, you can still lok at the 4dr. demo!

I personally have never changed a wiper motor, but I hope i don't do it soon. It was hard enough to mount my strust bar onto my firewall, I had to take the black cover to access the back of the firewall where I put two nuts to hold the bolts that go through the strust bar and firewall.

Anyways, there's a few SR5's at Standard. So you might want to g and pick a motor up, that way you can experiment on another car and learn how to take it out..

That's what I usually do when I don't want to experiment on my car.

I went today to get a motor. Ripped it from a blue 89 sr5.
It took me a whie but I managed to remove the motor with the arm.
Cost me $25 (rebuilt goes for approx. $180CDN). Now I have to see if the damn thing works.

sorry no GTS. I wish. Id like to pick up GTS seats, sway bars and side skirts. I'll be going there more frequently in the summer time. Free parts day is like in April, just in case anyone wanted to know
