well if its an 1988 - 1989 it has the 4af, 4af is the caburated engine and has 91 hp and 95 ft/lbs of torque
1990 - 1991 it has the 4afe which has more, i forget how much exactly the e means it's fuel injected.
you have the sedan suspension. Basically the sedan engine and such in a coupe body.
like if I was going to stay stock I would go 4age. But since I plan to build an engine up it won't be such a big deal as to if I have a 4af(e) or 4age... Even if I took a 4af put pistions, crank, cams, did a valve job to increase the rpm, ported it out, and either put a larger carb or twin carb or went it would be a good enough engine for me.
a valve job doesnt increase the RPM limit.
Plus if you did those mods, you'd have crappy 4A-F that is hard trying to impersonate a 4A-GE...
I'm not planning to jump on the 4A-GE bandwagon, I dont want my corolla to be like 90% of the modified AE92's.. heck it would be like owning a civic, everybody and their sister has the same mods as the guy next door.

ihmmm, nothing wrong with owning a Civic! I actually stand out because my Civic is stock while every other one on the road is done up

read my sentence again, I didnt say there was anything wrong with owning a civic, its just that 99% of civics are modded just like the others... Nobody is in the business of making their own parts, its 99% of brand name parts = clones of each others = boring
when I say valve job I mean the springs too. So it would increase the rev limit since stock the valve springs can only deal with 7000 rpm then the valves float. I want a new crank because I have heard a couple people say they have broken cranks in the 4af's before when they start modding them. Pistions you suggested flashmn. Why not port it out when I have the engine out? seems like a good idea to me . And cams are always a good way of gaining more power. I figured a new carb since mine needs a rebuild and I want an adjustable one and twin carbs would be more responsive than a single. Plus the engine at this point would probably need more fuel, correct?
