how long do your mufflers last?

Like damn the exhast was new last august and the muffler already has a hole... wtf! Stock style muffler, do the "performance" ones last longer?

It came on the car so no I didn't I have no idea how much it cost :p All I know is the exhaust was replaced just before I bought it.

no, thats the thing, it looks fine during the winter when it was on the lift. I think water collected in the seam because the cas rotted in the front and back along there at the bottom. BUt the exhaust looked GREAT in december up on the lift at toyota ... Meh I will replace it with somehting with more sound hahah, anyone have a suggestion

i just bought raptor super turbo mufflers from summit for 20.00 there suppose to be "performance " mufflers its cheap and should be a good replacement i cant wait to recive mine after i install it i will put a sound clip so you all can hear!

Do you live in an area where there is lots of salt? Like snowy roads or near the ocean? This will rust a weld or seam very quick, especially on the rear end of a car.

Daniel: Dont forget the flux capacitor controls the amount of flow and the noise. Better replace that one too

if I had a flux capasitor I would throw some garabage into the engine and go to thr future to steal a muffler

He lives in Canada... from what I have read about their winters... the entire underside of any vehicle rusts out in 2 seasons....

No that's caked on mud... once you remove it you will see the large rust holes....

Just kidding...

I've read in other car forums about people up north spraying all sorts of stuff on the undersides of their vehicles to prevent rust...

yea usually we spray it with tar or underspray and such. Usually an exhaust is alright for 2 - 3 years depending on the ammount of driving
