GZE Block, FE head and other FI questions

Ok, few questions. I have an AE101 with a 4afe. Can I swap blocks with a GZE relatively pain free? Any ideas on compression ratio etc? Would love a GE head, but would rather not have to swap wiring harness and such. Plus, with a T28, I'd rather have the torque than the top end on the street. Any other foreseen problems? Also, will a 7A exhaust manifold bolt to a 4A? Not sure about the differences in the F head, if there are any. My exhaust/intake just isn't enough anymore.

To answer your questions, you will still need a wire for the Knock sensor that is on the GZE block, but yes it would be possible. Why would you want to do it though? There wouldn't be much gain in HP, if any. Are you just looking at sticking a Turbo on there? If so, just swap out the internals and rebuild your FE.

As for the manifold - no a 7A manifold will not fit onto a 4A head. See this thread: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t140270.html

Thanks for the info. I realized however, that I would need the ECU from a GZE to avoid going standalone. It would still need a tune I'm sure at about 12 psi, but its gotta be easier than trying to tune it with the FE computer. I don't remember for sure, but I think on Toysport they say something about the GZE ECU being good up to about 14 psi. An Apexi S-AFC wouldn't do the trick, would it?

the problem with FI on the FE computers is they can't understand boost! i have heard there are work arounds

- Rising rate fuel pressure regulator with a block valve for the MAP s(easiest and cheapest but crude way of adjustment)

- Double the injector size then cut the map signal in half with a SAFC so the ecu is operating within the input range it was designed for basically 1/2 the signal will result in 1/2 the output but because the injectors are 2X normal (1/2 x 2 = 1) then at full pressure the ecu will see a maxed 1/2 signal open the injectors all the way which in theory will give ya double the fuel for the turbo

i donno like i said these are solutions i have heard!

Full GZE front cut it is. I might even just stay supercharged at that, and run a NEVO pulley or other oversized pulley till the blower decides to crap on me. I thought I might be asking too much from the FE stuff. Again, thanks for the useful info guys.
