'05 Corrola CE Speaker Question

I own a '05 Corolla CE (base model), does anyone know what’s the largest speaker I can fit in the front door? I don't know what the factory specs are, size and or depth.

Secondly, on the top of my doors, it looks like I could put in seperate tweeters, does anyone now if this is a "fake" cover or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking at the SPR-17LS 6-½" Type-R Component 2-Way Speaker

you speaker are 6.5 in stock but since it is a CE you have no tweaters in the factory provision, just fake covers, you can mount the type R tweeters there if you choose so, but let me suggest the type S components, they sound much cleaner in my experience,

see where the mirror is and the black piece. That is a speaker. Also there is one at the bottom of the door.

Hope this helps.

I heard that the front speaker might be "molded/welded" into the door frame? Is this true, or are they easily removed via 4 bolts?

Secondly, how hard is it to remove the panel itself?

The front speakers are 6.5" and have a special Toyota bracket riveted to the door. I should say the speaker, bracket, and door are all riveted together by 3 rivets. They are easy enough to remove by drilling out the 3 rivets.

The rear speakers I believe are 6x9 but they don't use a standard mounting screw pattern. I wound up drilling new holes to mount my 6x9s.

On crutchfield.com you can find compatible speakers and a new bracket for the front aftermarket speakers. There are others out there but this is just a convenient place to start so you know what you are looking at.

I wound up getting my new HU from crutchfield.com but got my speakers as close-outs from local stores and ordered the front speaker brackets from...... from..... from..... I don't remember. The HU came with the new wiring harness, in-dash install kit, and instructions for the HU and front/rear speakers.

This picture will show you what I mean...Some poeple have cut it down or removed it...Compared to other cars it is large especialy for tall guys like me!
To resize your pictures, if your running windows XP go to Microsoft.com click on downloads and find "Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP"....Just download the resize feature unless you like the other junk that comes with it...After download all you have to do is right click on your saved picture and pick "resize". I found that the best size pictures for posting is like this one at about 500x350......

To rest your foot on (or to push on to wedge yourself back in the seat during spirited driving - provided you don't need to be pushing a clutch ) I like...no, love dead pedals - I do agree that the Corolla's is a lil large, but....I have small feet anyways, so, no matter with ours...LOL

Since this speaker thread was already started, who can tell me the biggest speaker that can fit the '05 in the rear? 6x9's?

6x9s will fit just fine but you will need to drill new screw holes to mount them. Toyota used a "special" bracket to mount the 6x9s currently in there.
