Nominations for most often broken AE92 part

My nomination for the most often broken part of the AE92 is the little plastic clip that is supposed to clip the end of the metal rod that props the hood open when the rod is not in use. I've bought new ones from the dealer but they soon break. If you let the rod drop on it, the clip breaks right away. I've never seen an AE92 that had this clip intact.

Well you're not supposed to let the rod drop in the first place. My nomination goes to the rear wheel arches, they rust faster than you can fix them.

Which part are the rear wheel arches? That thin metal bar that attaches the bumper to the body?

Now that keylocks are mentioned, I think every used Corolla that I have seen is missing at least some of the door locks. This might be blamed on fellow amateur mechanics who decide to install their own anit-theft systems and don't get the doors put back together correctly. The ignition lock seems to twist the keys and they often get broken off in side of it.

I'm with kyle the lock tumblers corrode to easy and then the key stops working and eventually the key stops going in. Also with the first guy Almost every ae92 in the wrecker I went to had that clip broken. Mine came with that clip broken and no prop rod.
but it's so damn cheap to buy the prop rod so who cars?

mine came broken lol so it's not my fault. I think I have an idea as to why mine did though. The batter bracket broke off, figured that since the bolt head was broken off and I had to drill out the rest of it. Without the battery bracket what holds the prop rod down? nothing. Probably shoock around to much then broke off

Yep, the little clip on my prop rod was broken when I got the car. My grandma owned the car and I don't think she ever looked under the hood so it must be the grease monkies at the dealerships who break 'em.
Also, the rear passenger side wheel arch is rusting. I though about priming and painting it but I'm still looking for the color that matches...

priming and painting wont cut it most likely. its already rusting through, time to swap the arch. its a fairly easy task to do with a mig.

Ebay.. LOL! Real men go to junkyards dude.

I'd have a few to nominate.
-GTS Console door hinge (I've never found one at the wreckers that wasn't broken)
-trunk lock (mine is already dead on the 89, the 90 seems to be going the same way)
-Exterior door handles (too thin and flimsy)
-hood prop clip (been through 3 on the 89 GTS already )
-pop up light motor (been through a few already, LOL!!)
and last but not least
-Parking lamps!!! the stupid strip on the back of these seems to corrode easy and not carry the power to the bulbs, as they could've used wires, but NO they had to use a strip!!

brake lights..... especially for those sr5 owners, the 3rd brake light..... i've seen almost zero sr5's that have a working 3rd brake light.... the ground bolts through plastic... which melts... i've used tach screws several times just to get it grounded again... i stopped caring

This thread is great, every single part mentioned on here was broken on my old AE92 sedan. And the third brake light sucks when you have to pass inspection. I re-wired mine from one of the tail lights. None of my locks worked either. And it had more rust than a piece of steel at the bottom of the ocean.
