2001 corolla reliability question=

i,m considering buying a 2001 corolla le with 50,000 miles on it. but this car has some small electric issues. the brake light is on the dash. also the owner says it needs a tail light bulb. i saw jumper cables in the trunk. very suspicious. should i be suspicious? do 2001 corolla,s have many problems? i don,t want to buy a problem. i got problems with my olds acheiva already.

Does the car need a new brake light bulb? if so, change it and see if the light goes out.

I have jumpers in my trunk. The only time I use them is to start other cars. But, having an automatic makes it impossible to push start if/when the battery dies.

Are these your only issues with this car?

Do a TN history search, see what you find on electrical problems.

Carfax? And it's not uncommon to carry jumper cables in the trunk, you never know when you're going to leave your lights on in a parking lot. I take one of those little Craftsman self-jump starter kits everywhere I go.

USA

It only has 50k. As long as you can verify routine maintenance it's fine. The 01 is great. I love mine with 120k.

I have a 2001 auto Rolla LE. I bought it 3.5 years ago with 29K miles on it for 8K. It now has 59K miles on it. I was thinking about selling it, but it has been a very reliable car and it was a pretty good deal at that. I found out after I bought this car that it was in an accident, but it still runs awesome. Don't rely to heavily on carfax, have your potential cars checked over by a mechanic that you trust. Brake light on dash probably means that you need a brake job and a burnt out bulb is no problem at all. Good luck with your car search.
