How to fix your XRS muffler....

If you have an XRS, your stock muffler is robbing you of a significant amount of power. You NEED to get a freeer flowing muffler. Don't get crap here, you will sound like a ricey can of bees. Get something made by flowmaster, Magnaflow, Greddy, HKS, A'Pexi, or any other reputable muffler brand.

Your XRS comes stock with 2" diameter piping, which is plenty for our cars. Those who don't know any better will put 2.5" or more diameter piping on their NA 4 cylinders, which actually causes a loss in power across most of the RPM range, with slight gains at very high rpms. You don't want that. All you need is a quality universal muffler. Find a uni muffler with:

1. Offset inlet, meaning that the pipe going into the does not come into the center of the muffler, it is offset to the left or right of center
2. Oval type- there is not much room under our cars. A canister muffler will look retarded and will have to hang way down by the ground to spit fumes out the back of the car. Get an oval shaped muffler if you want it to fit.
3. A turned down tip. Look at my picture. If you want to look like all the ricers with singed body kits because their exaust goes straight out the back thats fine. But if you want your car to look clean get a turned down tip to spray the hot gas down and behind you where it won't burn your car.

All they'll have to do is cut your old muffler off and weld the new one on. While they are under there have them add another hanger, stronger than the shitty factory ones, so that your muffler won't hang down like other Corollas and Camry's seem to. Here's some pics

Here is my dirty muffler, notice the turned down tip, and flat oval shape so it fits better

Here is the weld for the new muffler, where the stock one was cut off

And here is the new stronger hanger, that wont sag like the stock hanger will

/puts on flame proof suit, because people will come out of the wood work to say how you NEED to have bigger piping

No, you're right about the piping.
Bigger isn't always better.

However, your welder needs to practice more.
His welds are a bit sloppy.
They will work, but....

Good read. I am looking into exhausts these days and have it narrowed down to either Borla or Greddy. Hopefully, I will be putting one in the next month or two.

He's also right about the canister type rice cans.. I've seen Corollas with them on.. they look retarded.

WHat do you expect a car's underbody to look like?

Rust is one more reason to hide an exaust behind a body kit......
