Is there a bolt at the arm and a nut at the end of the tensioner? You need to remove the bolt. If you can't get it out, jack the arm up and down to relieve the pressure. Then remove the nut. The assy should come off.

When you say, undo the v belt tensioner, what do you mean? Are you wanting to take off the belt? Or are you wanting to remove the tensioner?

I (my brother & I) just got through replacing the tensioner. I can explain it either way.
