87 Fx16

hey guys I dont post much but it looks like im getting an 87 fx16 with the 4ag in it, only problem is a blown head gasket, which i know could lead to other problems. Im thinking im just gonna pull the motor and rebuild it.

My questions; do any of you guys have any suggestions when rebuilding the motor?
Is there any aftermarket support for this vehicle, if so where might I be able to find some parts

Thank you for your time and I look forward to spending some more time here

if you don't know how long they drove it like that you could go to the trouble of taking apart alot of shit and cleaning it up. The longer they drove it the more antifreeze would have gone into the oil and run through the engine... And it's not gaurntee'd it will last if you do that.

I vote replace the 4age, cheaper than rebuilding it

I vote to get a new reuseable metal head gasket for it. Don't rebuild, just replace the head gasket and flush out the oil and coolant system good. When you have the head off, clean it up as well.

Finding a replacement 4AGE is generally cheaper than a rebuild. With the reuseable gasket, you won't be throwing money into the engine that you can't get back.

FX-16 = the hatch version of the GTS. Or any FX for that matter.

Like the FX-GT AE101 is the Hatch version of the AE101 GT-Apex. Same specs, different body.

Thanks guys, Ive decided to get a 91 4AGE motor without the TVIS. cheaper and easier for me

I am looking for the following parts however
-Aftermarket Flywheel
-Some kind of intake and header setup
-any aftermarket suspension, springs shocks sways strut bars
-Stiffer Bushings

If anyone knows where I can find these parts I would greatly appreciate it
Also as far as chassis goes, are there any parts from other cars like strut bars and what not that will work, I see a lot of parts for the 86 and 92 but nothing for the 82

Thanks again
