Hey guys!! Ive got a JDM spec 2000 Corolla Sedan that I bought used a little over a year ago.The thing is, there is this warning light(I assume its a warning light) that stays on constantly.I bought the car like this.I noticed it when I bought the car but didnt do anything about it because I hadnt had a car for a few months and didnt want to delay my ability to be mobile any longer!!!! I know its an Airbag indicator but Im not exactly sure how serious it is.A friend with a Honda Fit had the same problem and he just replaced a module somewhere under the dash.Could my problem be similarly solved?? Any input here would be appreciated. Here are some pics....
And here is the symbol...

Secondly, that basically just means that the airbag needs servicing. Could be anything from the sensors to the module to even the control unit. Basically it means that if you get into a crash, the airbags wont deploy.
Take it to your local stealership and get them to diagnose it. They should give you a quote for how much it is to fix, and what it is thats wrong. If you then want to do it yourself, just buy the part and swap it over...

Thanks for the input!!!!Im gonna get it dealt with but I was wondering if it meant that the deployment was emminent!! Its a nice car tho....I had an AE92 wagon before and had to get rid of it because the wife wanted to upgrade.Im very happy with its replacement!!!

Before you touch ANYTHING, disconnect the battery.
While disconnecting the battery is a good start the airbag system has a built in protection where even if the power is gone it will still deploy in case the accident is bad enough to knock the power out.... what I would do is first disconnect the battery, remove the air bag fuese, and let it sit for at least like a few hours to drain all the power out of it.... just my two cents

"Work must be started 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the ”LOCK” position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
(The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source so that if work is started within 90 seconds
from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may be deployed.)"
Also from the manual ...
"Malfunction symptoms of the SRS are difficult to confirm, so the DTCs become the most important
source of information when troubleshooting. When troubleshooting the SRS, always inspect
the DTCs before disconnecting the battery."
Gee, thanks mucho for the input guys but I have NO intention of messing with the Airbag myself!!!!Wouldnt dream of it!!! Nevertheless, thanks a mil for the info
