4AGZE clutch

Starting to get parts together for my 4AGZE swap, looking at clutches now.

Do all the 4AGZE's use the same clutch? Or do the different generations of GZE use different clutches?

Well.. depends on the layout of the GZE you're talking about.. someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the MR2 GZEs used the E51 transmissions where as the AE92 GZEs used the E53 transmissions.. something like that. I would assume that the clutches might be slightly different.

LOL I have been hunting for clutch info all day.
All I know is that the stock clutches don't hold well - I went through 2 in my previous engine because of slippage. Of course some think that something has to slip and a slipping clutch is better than a broken axle.

This looks like the best deal.

On most of the models it doesn't matter much as long as you change the flywheel and clutch as a unit. Measure the size of the parts and go from there. Note that the early big port older (EDIT: 4AF 7AF) did have a different crank/flywheel bolt pattern.

if you're using an E series transmission it doesn't matter what CLUTCH you use as long as you use a matching flywheel (but you need to use one that's meant for an E series tranny).

the mr2 and early ae92 used the e51's and were like 228mm or something.... the later e58's were like 230?mm.....

i have a 228mm gze clutch, pp, and t/o bearing lying around i'd be willing to sell

I'm learning more every day heh.

7AFE 212mm 21Teeth 24.1mm spline note all AF series have a different crank bolt pattern.
Early model big bore AE-92 4age 200mm 21Teeth 24.1mm spline
Late model 16v small bore AE-92 (5/87-89) 4age is 200mm 21Teeth 24.1mm spline
The silver tops (20v series) clutch is 212mm 21Teeth 24.1mm spline
Early GZE clutch size is 224mm though most american mfr's build them 8 7/8" and depending on build accuracy can be from 224 (8 13/16") to 229 mm 9" 21T 29.8mm spline
The E-58 should be 9 1/8 232mm I don't have a spline count or measurement.
