AE92 AE92 Head Swap but now Knocking, WHY?

I just finish a head swap for my big port head with Port and Polish and a 3 angle valve job and KBD headers on Friday and on Wed. the engine started knocking. Before the knocking it was hesitating alot then when you floor it you hear that AWFUL sound! Can someone shed some light on this issue I have now.

My only guess is that something was probably done wrong.

not sure.. I would take it back to the shop that did the work though and ask them.. like I said, maybe something was done wrong; I'm sure they would know.

Things you could check yourself would be the compression and the timing. Which type of engine for the AE92 was this?

If it was an FE to the GE big port, wouldn't the ECU be a problem? Not the right fuel mixture etc.?

a *horrible* sound of knocking generally reffers to a loud knocking.... ie a spun bearing/rod knock

if it's knocking from detonation then maybe whoever did the headwork (and a 3 angle valve job is pointless since that's what 4age heads have FACTORY) shaved too much and compression is way higher than it should be..... be careful, because if that's true then it probably is no longer non-interference

Might be valve timing.

and if it was a F to G head swap, chances are your valves are hitting the pistons.

The head is a 4age big port red top with TVIS... I don't kno but my brother check it out and he said it wasn't the rod. He said it sounds like its coming from the head where the intake cams are. It sounds only when you hit the gas not when it's idle.

I would also go for the timing being out, and the valves hitting the pistons. What timing belt setup did you use??

they keep asking if you took a 4af engine and put the GE head on it.

answering saying the head was off a 4age doesn't answer that....
