Yeah so this has happened to me 3 times the third time being the worst. I have a stock exhaust system on my car, gay. Well anyway I will notice a slight exhaust leak like a week before the big problem happens. I have just been driving my car and I will drop it down a gear and I will hear a freaking loud WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH and my exhaust system is just almost completely not there. Well anyway a weld breaks right before the flex pipe and its just rediculous this has happened 3 time now, the third time it not only did the weld break but the bolts holding my my manifold to my engine stripped and pulled out of it I could have gotten carbon monoxide poisoning. Has this happened to anyone else. Also does anyone have an aftermarket exhaust sytem on their SR5 and does it sound good. If so would anyone have any sound clips of its awesomeness. Just let me know because if it sound anything like my car does when my exhaust blows off ewww.

my 1989 Corolla SR5 is stock, and the exhaust is not broken, but was purchased with very low milage in mint condition a very logn time ago..... and it was quiet when new. But, now, it has some exhaust leak, I replaced the gasket on the exhaust manifold, and the donut gaket seems ok, but was wondering about the weird flex looking area between the header pipe and the catalytic converter. What is the deal with the flex looking area of the pipe, with the weird looking metal strapping? I never had the on a car before. Is that the Flex thingy? Is that where they start leaking? Why is the pip elike that? I should have aksed a muffled shop the last Ime I had muffle work, maybe they know. I know there is a leak in that area. it's not real bad, but sounds sorta ghetto'y. But, WTF is the odd spot int he pipe close to the bend after the heard ont he bottm, where the bend goes straight. WTF is the flex looking part? WTF were they thinking?

Basically it's the pipe around that area where it keeps breaking not the actual flex pipe, in my situation. Right now I have a decent sized hole in my muffler so I think I am just going to get duals, call me a rice boy I don't care. lol

BTW, "gay" doesn't mean lame, pathetic or inadequate. If you called your loser exhaust system "Latino" or "Catholic" I'm sure you'd get some negative feedback. P.S highschool is over.
Yeah I know what you're saying. My muffler has rusted a hole in the back of it, it does sound kinda cool but it was way too loud when it was just coming straight out of the manifold lol.

Yeah so guess what... I was on the interstate last night and it just got louder and louder not only is there a hole in the muffler now but the weld on the pipe has busted. Is there a good cat-back exhaust system for my car for less than $200. If so Ill prolly go with that.

I've been wondering how much it will run me for a 2 inch exhaust for my car. the high flow cat is about 100. Mufflers are around 100 so after that it's just getting the piping... Figured someone on here has gone to a shop to have it done.
This is the 4th time it has happened and I am thinking about getting duals put on it which i imagine are probably just straight pipes because its $150 at some place in Terre Haute that I drive by all the time. Terre Haute is the bigger city around the small town I live in.
