Question 95 Corolla Keyless Arms itself

I got a 1995 Corolla LX with Keyless Entry. At times the keyless will arm itself. The remote only will work sporadicly to release it. Changed the battery in remote with no change. Even left the battery out of the remote to make sure that the remote didnt go wacky and was arming it on its own. It has to be something going on in the car itself.

Any idea what is causing this?? How do i just remove the keyless entry so this doesnt happen any more?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated cause this is making me

Probably the alarm module itself its busted, take it to either Toyota or an Audio & Security shop and either.
A. Get it fixed
B. Get it taken out and get a new alarm or no alarm at all, your choice.

i know for a fact that it's an actual feature on new keyless-entry systems. the alarm ecu simply thinks you've pressed the "unlock" button by accident, and locks itself after a few set minutes by itself. but it only works in certain conditions- like the car has to be previously locked, then you can unlock it and it would supposidly lock itself again in a few minutes. i guess you can test it, but no use since it does it already. lol.

the issue is... was that feature implemented in cars dating back to 1995? i thought it was a new thing. eh- i learn something new everyday!

Actually, now that I think about it; not sure if the OEM systems have this but my GF's alarm is set on auto-arming mode. You take the key out of the ignition or put the key in OFF and the alarm counts to one minute then arms itself. Kind of annoying when you're trying to install a stereo in the damn car.

But the fact that his remote won't even work with the alarm sometimes makes me think its the alarm brain module that's busted.

According to Loomdog, your car battery is dead(you had to jump start it). The alarm will tend to do wierd stuff with a low battery. I would have charged or changed, before you go too deep with the troubleshooting.

The car has been doing this for YEARS!!! It origionally started as an annoyance where you would have to press the button 2-3 times.. Then it started arming itself overnight.. Then you would have to manually unlock the car and use it inside the car to unlock the killswitch..

Now, it doesnt even lock/unlock the doors, but it will still arm/disdarm the killswitch..

Sounds like the problem is in the door lock Control module. Does the car have factory VSS (A little red flashing light on the dash)? If not, just take off the glove box, find the little blue box marked 'Door Control', rip out the plug, and problem solved...

I have always wondered what that thing was for.. Your talking about a thingy thats under the driver dash with 2 wires going to it, with a red (usually flashing) light and a 2-way switch behind it?? What exactly is that for and what does the switch do??

^^ That would be the VSS override. That is so that you can code new keys and remotes to the ECU without completely locking the car out. The Door control box is different and has about 12-14 wires going in and out.
