AE102 suspension issues

G'day all,
I've started hearing some creaking/groaning sounds coming out of my front wheels when they go over speed bumps etc. I haven't had much to do with the suspesion on the AE102 yet, but it looks like I'm about to get a lot more experience.
Could anyone suggest the best places to start? Am I just looking for worn shockers, or am I looking at more troubled parts.
Thanks guys

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who ever had a groaning noise in the suspension that could be traced to a worn struct. I haven't. (Your struts might be bad even if they are not the cause of the noise. Give them the bounce test.) I've had groans from the boots on good struts rubbing against things.

The "best" place to start could be defined as the most frequent location for trouble or it could be defined as the most dangerous places to have a problem. The most serious places are not hard to check if you know where all the bolts are that hold the suspension members to the frame of the car. See that they are all tight. Then check the rubber bushings in the control arm. (The ends may look deteriorated when the body is still good.) Then check the tie rod ends and strut mounts. Of course the list goes on after this.
