best place to press a bearing

i need the drivers side rear axle bearing taken off/pressed on from my 1986 corolla gts. I have done this before, it was done at canadian tire for 75 bucks to only press the bearing on. is there a better/cheaper place to do this?

another question, how is a good way to tell if the bearing is busted? the outer ring looks fine so i suspect it is the inner ring.

For how much and where did you get the actual bearings?

I know a guy who'll do it but I'm not certain on the price. RT Motorsport, ask for Rick 905-669-8444 ... tell him Jerry sent you.

wow $99 is a good deal

The lowest I could find was carquest and they wanted $150.

Try AAmco transmission, they only charged me $20 to press my release bearing. The problem with CT is they have a 1 hour minimum charge rate.

I went to the aamco in Pickering, on the south side of hwy 2.

hey guys, My AE86's rear axle has a sound coming out of it when I am in motion (forward)... it sounds like the noise those old school hondas make when reversing...

and it seems to be on the driver side only... would doing what baartman is doing be the proper fix for it?

a bad bearing is usually only making those sounds when you're turning.

..

When a bearing in a live axle goes it will make noise no matter what direction your moving, their are minimal side forces on the bearing.

When mine went on my '83 Corolla, their was a constant whirring, which eventually turned into a grinding sound just a short while before the bearing completely let go.
