89 Corrolla can't keep it going.

I have an 1989 Corrolla Wagon with a 1.6lt 4bbl and a 5spd. When it is first started it has a real problem running, and it will smoak some. I can also smell gas. once the temp gets up to the normal range it runs great with no smoak or anything else. The car has just rolled over 100k. What is happening here?

Also on a side note I have been offered a motor out of an 1989 MR2 with a super charger, but it has just over 200k miles on it, can I add the Fuel injection and SC to my existing motor with out a major expense?

Any help on these two questions would be great, thanks in advance.
