4AF engine questions

1] has anyone tried doing a poor man's compression increase by using a thinner head gasket? and have any success with it?

2] Would a camry intake manifold fit in replacement of the stock carb'd intake manifold?

i think that is all.

Hey there!!!Welcome to the board!!I have a 4AF myself but Ive honestly never heard of anyone doing any kind of performance work on a 4AF except for maybe a better air filter or intake of some kind. The 4AF was never intended to be particularly sporty and as such I doubt many mods are available for it.However,I hope that someone who is more technically savvy in these matters will see this post and be able to offer better insight.Good luck!!

if you want to increase the compression ratio on your 4A-F you could have the head shaved a bit. And I doubt that a camry manifold would fit, the engines are totally different.

and here i thought that i could get away with what honda owners take for granted.

darn...

i thought since the camry engine is larger that the intake manifold would flow in more fuel into the engine.

and for the compression....if i wanted to put that much into my car i would most likely go ahead and do that...thanks for the info tho.

Well you wont "flow" more fuel into the engine even with a 3S-FE manifold. Because it doesnt flow :P plus if you flow more fuel you'd just be going rich... meaning you're actually getting worse performance. But anyhow, the reason why you wont get any more fuel/air into the engine is because of the design, the engine can suck in just so much... What you need is a turbo/supercharger if you want to get more mixture into the engine.
