Had the black headlights for a while now just never took any pics of them on the car. Just recently my friend sold me his old BMW HID's so I went and bought some projectors and fitted them in enjoy.

Headlights:

some aiming:

and some wall shots:

Head on:

and some no projector glare fun

Looks good!

But what do they look like on te car in the day (with lights off). The projectors look ugly off the car imo, but considering them if they look half decent on the car...

It looks ugly in the day time as well but I really don't care how they look in the housing. I did this for the better light output, so the look of them doesn't bother me to much. If or when I redo them i'll do a better job of putting them in with some better projectors, until then i'm happy with them.

did you use the ballast units from the bmw too? and how are your low and high beams wired now, so that when you flip on the highs the lows dim?

Any more details you can share with us? These are....what, stock Ebay 'projector' housings, retrofitted with the low-beam projectors from what year and model of BMW? How much trouble was it to replace the existing 9006 'angel eyes' with the projectors?

Sorry about the ten thousand questions, but I do want to do a retrofit on my 96 as well. Even with the clear lenses and good bulbs, the stock light output isn't for ****.

The ballast are from the BMW as well, the ballast get there power straight from the battery. When the lights are on the HID's are my lows, and when I need to high beam someone, the high's come on with no affect to the HID's. They both stay on at the same time, my only problem now is when the lights are off and I need to high beam someone the HID's and the highs come on at the same time.

They are just stock ebay light with no projector in them. I custom fit the E46 projector into the housing. I basically just cut a hole in the back of the headlight to fit the projector in, drilled some holes to place the long screws to hold the projector in place, and then just sealed everything up with some high temp silicone. Pretty.... no, does it get the job done....yes. If I where to get my hands on some TSX projectors I'd go back in and do a better job of putting them in.

I'll post some pics of them in day light and some shots of the back of the headlight this weekend.

Thanks for the info...so do you think it would matter whether or not the specific E46 projector was used? (I'd imagine pretty much anything would fit in...)

Also, for those looking to do this themselves and go for an upgraded pre-angel-eyed projector setup, it can be done as an off-the-shelf thing, but NOT CHEAPLY. http://www.umnitza.com/product_info....oducts_id=1099 , with the ballasts and the harnesses and such not even included. There's a little more information at http://www.e46fanatics.com/features/...php?news_id=48 , and it seems TSX projectors go pretty cheaply on Ebay, ~$185 per set of two.

Anybody got sources/prices/ideas? Chime in here, let's get some info on this going...it's a much better option for HID conversion than simply slapping a HID bulb into a halogen socket!

if you have any questions at all, just feel free to ask.

I know I don't post here a lot, but I have been trying to read up no my '04 Corolla S

I just wish I could get a little power out of it.. I don't want anything loud, or obnoxious.. for that I have my Neon. it is plenty fast, and plenty loud... my S is my comfy car.. I like it, but it needs a little more lungs for me to love it...
