AE92 Those of you who have installed an OBX header on your AE92...

What the heck are you supposed to do with the EGR line that connects to the header? The bung they put on is WAY off, do I have to just bend the shit out of the pipe or what?

and the oxygen sensor bung they put on there is not the right size for my stock sensor...what the heck is up with that?

Thanks for the info,
Ryan

Yeah, you'll probably have to bend it. I bought a KBD header for my car recently and the person selling it to me said he had to do some fitting before putting it on his car, he said.. "you should have no problems as I already fixed them"

There's an actual O2 sensor flange on the pipe, pretty decent header actually. Here's the header on the previous owner's car. The third pipe has the flange for the O2 sensor.

most header companies make them fit 1 version...... even though for ae92's and mr2's there's at least 2 different EGR setups.... i'm sure the KBD fits one....

my solution.... big bolt

I realize the third pipe has a port for the 02 sensor. The problem is that my O2 sensor doesnt line up with it. I want to know what o2 sensor it is made for.

I'm pretty sure the OBX header is designed for the 2nd gen 4A-FE thus having the EGR way off.

I know this thread is from a year ago. But I also just got a OBX header from sparctec motorsports. The o2 sensor flange is wayy too small compared to the flange that's on the 4-wire o2 sensor. What did you guys do about this? Really need your help, cuz my check engine light is now on because of it.

I never ended up hooking up an O2 sensor, and just drove around with the CEL on. It didnt affect performance any that I noticed.

AE92

Without the O2, your mpg would be really low.
For those of you who were able to fit the O2 sensor in... do you have a 1 wire/ 2 wire or 4 wire O2 sensor. For my 1991 GTS, I have the 4 wire. I looked this up at Allied, and seems like the flange plate is larger for the 4 wire.

Also, with my O2 fitted on incorrectly, my check engine light went on as well.

Anyone have any ideas?

also... just wondering.... are any of you guys or anyone you know with an ae92 located in the US... particularly the northern CA area? Seems like i'm the only one working on the ae92 in norcali.

I have 89 GTS suspension motor/trans in my 92 sedan and put the obx header on it. With my application I ditched all the egr equipment and had to cut off the old o2 sensor flange flush with the pipe. I then cut out a new flange from 3/8 mild steel and welded it directly to the pipe. You will notice if you put your o2 sensor in the port of the obx pipe it is not directly in the exhaust gas flow hence why I welded my new flange right to the pipe. Also like someone else mentioned without the o2 sensor hooked up your ecm will put the car in somewhat of a limp mode cause its not getting a proper reading. Also I have the 4 wire o2 sensor.

AE92

I talked to Jeffrey at OBX, and he said he'll note this problem. What they did was that they took a JDM header and mass produced it . I'm guessing that the JDM ae92's have a 1 or 2 wire O2 sensor. Also note that JDM cars don't have EGR (lucky sob...) so that's probably why the fitment of ours are so messed up.

I'm Will btw... haven't had time to post much on this forumn but now that I do... (and that my car has lotsa problems).... i'll probably frequent it a lot.
Nice meeting you all.

Do you know if the center of bolt to center-of-bolt of the o2 sensor on your car is 5.5cm?

Or is it smaller?

mine is 5.5cm
