is it possible to install a turbo in a 1990 corolla dx 4dr sedan, and if so, would it have to be remachined in any way? also, how much would it cost to put one in and how muchof an improvement would it be. one other thing, can the insturment cluster be changed to include a tachometer while still keeping the other meters, or would i have to get an external tachy?
Search would go along way, but since I'm in a good mood today. I'll summarize.
Yes its possible, you dont have to machine it necessarily. Cost is dependant on the installation. Improvement in what, mileage, power, durability. You wont get mileage, or durability, you'll lose them as a trade off for power.
yes the cluster can be changed.
Eh dont know much about the 6th gen other than that they are slow. My cousin has one, slow. If you can get 200+hp out of that engine then you did some major work and probably are running at a high psi. Either way nice bay. Thumbs up!
so If I dyno 200+hp out of my 4A-F, that I would of gotten more out of a swap?
Sneak preview (oldish pic):
How do you get away with that in Finland, aren't there laws against that sort of thing?
BTW nice work.
Just curious.

I would have normally said after looking at those pics... but after seeing the AE92 GTS at the Toronto east end meet today with a 3SGTE shoehorned into the engine bay.. I have no more 's left.
so how would i go about changing the cluster? would i have to have one specially made, or could i just find one from the same year and model corolla w/ a tach and hook it up, would i have to do any rewiring? and as far as swapping out the engine, would i swap it out for an fe instead of the ge or for a completly different engine? from the looks of it flashmn, ur engine is the fe too (correct me if i'm mistaken). what would i have to do to an fe to get it to preform better?
