Oil on #4 plug 4AGE

While changing my plug's I noticed my #4 plug was covered in oil. I also noticed a little oil around all the plug holes and elsewhere while looking through the cover holes. The most oil was around #4. What should I do now? I read somehwere that it could be a plugged injector causing oil to be drawn up there. Do I change or get the injectors cleaned? Or do I start with gaskets?

Check your PCV it might not be working and the pressure is squuzing the oil into the cylinder... otherwise its a seal probably gone bad..

you know....is it just me??? or i dun see any PCV valve on 4AGE??? its been a major question for me

but in your case, go with the easy stuff, and how much Km on your engine??? do you see lots of oil on the valve valley??? how is your oil consumption???....do the visual test b4 going into any conclusion

Well all engines have a PCV, because its needed to keep the crankcase pressure down, plus its there to suck out the hazardous wastes that would otherwise contaminate your oil.

Well I have a 4A-F so I dont exactly have a deep part between the cam covers, however, I do have slight oil on the right side of the valve cover, and I know where its leaking from. Otherwise my engine doesnt use oil, atleast so that its noticed. Everytime I check the dipstick, well it reads full good enough. My 4A-F has approximately 55000km's (yes its the original engine)

the PCV goes into the intake manifold...follow the line to the valve cover on the intake cam

There is no actual PCV valve like on other cars ... it's just a tube running between the valve cover and the intake.

This is where some guys will block the hole in the intake and run the valve cover hose to a catch can ...

Oil catch can!

Whats a good way to clean out the oil by the plugs? And what about my #4 cyl. Should I replace the injector for 70$? How do I clean out that cyl?

Thanks for help

maybe your valve cover seals have a leak, and oil is leaking into the little valley where the plugs go.. and then when you pull out the #4 plug, the oil gets onto it, so it gets covered in oil..

that's happened to me before

No I mean 55,000km.... considering the car is a 1990 year model and last I checked it was 2003, I'd say its almost brand new ;D

Oh and one more thing... yes even the 4A-GE has a VALVE on the PCV... there has to be a valve on it, its a one way valve to be exact. Anyhow.. one more thing... running a catch-can, well, I'm pretty much against the idea of using one. Basically because you're interrupting the use of the intake vacuum to suck out the hazardous wastes from the crack case, which then burn in the cylinders. The poisonous gasses are sucked out so that they wont contaminate your oil... so think twice about installing a catch can.

I think you need to also change the sparkplug tube gaskets.
If these leak you get oil on the spark plugs. There are 4 of them,
one for each sparkplug tube.

The lastest list price for the sparkplug tube gaskets from Toyota is $4.30 each. Felpro also makes them.

I wasn't suggesting running a catch can to solve his problem ...

My 85 snorts so much oil back into the intake that it's leaking where the afm is connected! My mechanic suggested running the hose under the car vented to the atmosphere but that's not really an ideal solution either.
