is it possible and mechanically inexpensive to swap out an fe in a 90 corolla sedan for a ge from a 90 gt-s, and would it make any worthwhile difference in the performance, or would i be better off leaving the ge in the gt-s and restoring it. i assume the gts is lighter...
I'd do it.. there were sedans built with the 4AGE that were only available in Japan, with the exception of the Geo Prizm GSi's which had the redtop 4AGE.
I actually had the same Idea, to do up a sedan with a 4AGE and GTS suspension. Basically the chassis is the same so it's possible to swap a lot of components from the GTS to the sedan.

Yep.. there was even a short-lived 3SGTE AE92 sedan running around in Toronto before, it was fast as hell according to the owner, and he had no problems hitting 250km/h with it.

But then he smashed it up.
if by HE smashed it up by him GETTING hit by a minivan, then yes
it's relatively easy, actually.... and if you know what you're doing you don't have to swap electrical harnesses

=( that would be sweet to see.
oh and 180km/h isnt much, 110mph, my dads 02 kia rio will probably do that (we've been to 170km/h on the QEW to Niagara Falls looking in the rearview at the ball less guys with 300Cs... lols) but it feels like your running over dead bodies when you switch lanes, and the wipers start to lift off the windshield, and the doors start to whistle

thats saying if the gear ratios will allow it, from what the ae86 guys tell me they are reving on the hwy at cetrain speeds they aren't getting to much higher than that. Also depends if there is a speed limiter since my car has a carb it has no ecu so no rev or speed limiters on it
Also remember you speedos are completly in accurate at that speed.
At my last track day my speedo was sitting on the stopper (ie right around) indicating 190+ and I was clocked with a laser gun as doing 177, Big difference.
An no 4ages don't run out of gears, 5th gear will see me past 245km/h. (the engine won't though)
