This is a strange but true story...I just bought a 1977 MGB that has been fitted with a Toyota Corolla motor and transmision.....I need some help dating and sizing it for some parts replacement....how in God's name do I do that if this is a complete Franeistien???
As I said it's a re-engineered( to put it mildly) MGB with a Toyota motor and transmission...the tranny looks like it was mechanical in it's first life...well the hack that did the conversion installed a cluch slave on the existing master cluch cylinder...the systems leaks and I want to see is there is a Toyota slave I can install...that's where I am right now in my re-engineering...
I can't seem to load the pictures here..what's the trick ????
If you don't have a picture host, sign up here and load your pictures to their server www.photobucket.com
Then post the [IMG] links that show up under the pictures after you load them to the photobucket servers.
YA post pics chances are its is a corolla motor we will be able to recognize it on sight.
BTW ... toyota engine swap into english car = good idea
Another neat swap you may want to consider is fitting in a Rover V8 the rover aluminum block is actually lighter than the original MG block. Think i have pics somewhere ....
Here is the whole album some of the better cars in the meet. (the black echo is our car, the grey Jaguar (E-Type) is my dad's and that Camaro is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen, it was unbelievable.

Wow... OK. Do you know if the guy used to race it at all? If so, by most regulations he would have to have stuck with the 1.5L displacement engine...
But being a chain driven, SOHC it cant be an A series, unless it was the rarer 1.5L 2A-C... But if i had to put my money on it i would say its a 1.3L out of a 70-75 KE3x or TE3x... Someone else may know the engine exactly tho.
Looks like a good one... Certainly more reliable than the BMC 1.5L that they came with.,..

Its a 3k-C (1200cc) from a early model 69-71?? corolla. I used to have a 71 hatch, the motor looked almost identical to that one.

Its a K series, there should be a number cast into the block (I forget where at the moment) It will be 1K, 2K, 3K or 4K. (won't be a 5K or 7K)
As for what gearbox you have, depends what box the corollas you got came with, if it was here it would have a K50 or K40. Which should all have the same slave cylinder. (only the later ones are hydralic.)
Someone with local knowledge should be able to help.

You guys are too much..OK he's my problem...the guy who built this used an aftermarket cluch slave to utilize the MGB cluch master cylinder. It looks to me like the original cluch was cable connected and not hydralic...I have been searching for a new cluch slave cylinder for this( guess what's leaking ) I am looking for a retro fit cluch slave to replace my leaker...
