Carb Shops in N. San Diego County

Hello,
I have a 1977 te38 wagon. Does anyone know of a good carb shop in North San Diego County to rebuild my carb?

Thank You.
James

Cool

no, I don't personally know any carb shops here San Diego North County, but check eBay, there are carb shops that sell them on eBay. I rebuilt my own. 1989 Corolla Carb (mine had 300,00 mile son it and rwa sin really bad shape, but only needed new a few new parts.). Your carb could be no more complicated than mine. Sometimes, just taking them off taking them apart, replacing the main jet and needle valve, gaskets, and cleanign them with carb cleaner will make them run nice. if you do this yourslef, take pictures witha digital camera, before you take it apart, and even while they are in pieces, to help you remeber where certain parts go. I also sugggest you don't bend any of the rods and pins, leave them as is, and if your choke works proerply, don't mess with that either, unless you an expert, chances are they don't need any adjustment. The instructionas that come with the kits, are ok, but not perfect. I picked up a carb kit for about $50 at Napa Auto. My carb rebuild took me about 8 hours. Though I confess, I did not do all the adjustments asked for int he kit, as my card did not need those adjustments, it basically needed the new gaskets and needlevalve, and other small parts. You can buy a can of carb cleaner, and if you do soak it, let the parts (disassembled) soak overnight. Make sur eyou do it on a very clean workbench or table with lots of light and no wind, or dirt.

If money is no object, get a rebuilt. Maybe you can find a shop to do it, I just don't know of any, but am sure that must be int e local area. The local pick-a-part in Oceanside, might have you carb, but it's a real bitch in theis summer heat going through there with a tool box in 100 degree heat, and then not knowing what you might end up with.

it really depends on your car, if you just need it to run better, but don't need a new card, the rebuild kit is good,. if it's a very nice car in great condition, them go with new/rebuilt. If you have no epxerience with carbs get a new/rebuilt, or have an experinced mechanic do it. Be prepared to spend lots of money to have a shop do it.

Adjusting the carb is a real pain, but there are lots of instructions on it on websites like www.Autozone.com . But, if you have no experience, than you need a shop to do it. Also, if you need the car smogged, you will need it adjsted correctly for it to pass.

I know you were aking if some knew of a shop locally, but thought i would throw in my experience. Disregard if it wasn't any help.

Thanks for your advice. I have traced the running problem down. The carb lets in too much gas and floods the engine out. I think that it could be that the float might be out of adjustment or the needle valve could have some dirt in it. To make the car run smoothly, I put vice grips on half of the rubber fuel line that goes into the carb( to try to limit the amt of gas going to the carb) and the thing ran awesome. No sputtering or gasoline rich smoke coming out of the tail pipe. So something in the float/needle valve area.
Thanks again.
