No start problem on a ae86. Help !

It's a friend of mine that owns the car and he can't get the car to start. The car cranks over but wont go all the way. He checked the spark and there's spark on the plugs. He tried to check (smell) the fuel from each cylinder and there's no smell. I want to check the fuel pump but I dont know where it is. Can you guys let me know where it is and link me to how-to remove/replace the fuel pump thanks...

I believe its in the tank, if you remove the rear seat, you can access it on some 86s.

fuel pump on 86s are in the tank, 86s are NOT like AE92s where there is a cover under the rear seats

the access cover for 86s is on the trunkbed, and that lets you inspect the fuel level sender unit, to remove the pump you must drop the tank. Removing the rear seats on the 86 will show you nothing.

An easy way to test operation of the fuel pump, is to short out terminals B+ and Fp inside the check connector/diagnostic port, then switch the key to IGN, listen for the fuel pump running. You should be able to hear the fuel move along the fuel rail as well.

AE86

project trueno pretty much said it all.

I had to change the fuel pump on my 85 gts, put in one from an mr2 that I had lying around. it's pretty straight forward.

My old 85 gts coupe was rallied by a guy that owned it before me, so he had just cut a big hole around the fuel pump for easy access.
