2001 corolla scheduled maintenance

I bought my 01 from the dealer with 44k on it. It is now at 71k.

I havent done anything to it besides change the oil around every 3000 miles.

I was thinking about taking it to have the dealer recommended scheduled maintenance done. Trans oil, plugs, fuel filter, etc etc.

They alwys have those package deals for 159.00 and it includes everything. Except of course if it needs platinum or iridium plugs.

So my questions are:

Does the 01 require special plugs?

Should I be taking it in for this maintenance already or should i wait a longer?

Also the dealer recommends the timing chain be replaced? Should I maybe do this first?

Like I said i bought it from the dealer so I have no idea what is in it or what thye did to it before they sold it to me.

Are you sure they didnt say timing chain tensioner. They have an oring that leaks. Maybe even your drive belt tensioner. They come with iridium plugs. Good till 90-100k. For the fuel filter, Toyota doesnt recommend you change them till after 100k.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will wait awhile then. I read the same thing somewhere else about the plugs being good until 90k.

You should have at least changed your air filter every 12k...Do you have a cabin filter? check that, after one year mine was filthy..How about inspecting and adjusting your rear brakes...Lube that EB so it doesn't freeze up in a few years...Original battery after 5 years it might not be good for this winter, check it out...How about your serpentine belt, any cracks?...Wheel alignment?...I think your fuel filter is in the gas tank(not sure)...good luck

I have done the air filter and brakes. Belt is good. No crack. I do a visual check everytime I check my oil. Never changed the cabin filter.

There is no cabin air filter on your car. Maybe a coolant flush
