Are your sure these are fuel lines? If you have a 4AFE engine, look near the rear of the head and see if you see something that looks like a section of pipe. That would be the fuel "rail" that sends fuel to the injectos. On the drivers end of that is a fuel line. As I recall, this line goes directly to the fuel filter. The smaller lines in the vicinity of the throttle are mostly vacuum lines.

yes you are correct my engine is a 4afe . the steel line that broke comes from the bottom of the intake then a rubber hose goes over it and the it conects to a steel lines into the throttle body . are you saying this is a vacuum? how do you get the line out of the aluminum manifold?

You'll have to give me some more landmarks. I'm not sure what you are calling "the manifold". There is a small metal fuel ine from near the middle of the "fuel ail" to the cold start injectory which is in the part of the intake that is downstream from what the service manual calls the throttle body. There is a "vacuum sensing" hose that runs from the fuel pressure regulator (which is on the passengers side of the fuel rail) to the same area.
